X Files 2024
Sinopsis
In the world there are thousands of mysteries still unsolved, the problem is when these mysteries become our greatest fears of our life. These stories awaken our worst nightmares.
Cast
The cast of “The X-Files” was notably lacking in diversity, with all five credited series regulars being white: David Duchovny as Fox Mulder, Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully, Robert Patrick as John Doggett, Annabeth Gish as Monica Reyes and Mitch Pileggi as Walter Skinner. However, two Black actors also made their mark on the show: James Pickens Jr. had an “also starring” role as Deputy Director Alvin Kersh, and Steven Williams played a recurring guest star named X to great fanfare.
Review
Granted, I have to openly admit that I was not expecting anything from the 2024 Spanish movie “X Files”, despite it sharing title with a phenomenal TV show. But still, I opted to check out the movie, as it was a horror sci-fi movie that I had never even heard about. But the title alone was sufficient to instill zero expectations.
And from the very first minute of footage, it was painstakingly clear that this was not going to be a stellar movie.
To make matters worse, then “X Files” was an anthology, and that was just the ultimate slap to the face. Horror anthologies are usually bad, and “X Files” is particularly bad, trust me on that one.
Given my extremely limited exposure to Spanish cinema, and in particular low budget Spanish cinema, then of course I wasn’t familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list. The acting performances were, well, let’s just say dubious at best.
The special effects in the movie were exactly that; special. But at least they get points for trying. And in all honesty, then I have actually seen far worse special effects in other movies, so that counted for something I suppose.
The movie’s cover was actually the best thing about the entire ordeal. Well, and the moment when the movie ended, of course.
I would most certainly not suggest that you squander 74 minutes of your life on watching “X Files”. Some of us suffered through this dumpster fire of a movie, so you don’t have to; you’re most welcome.
My rating of director Steve Garel’s 2024 movie “X Files” lands on a one out of ten stars.
